Amiibo can be used on New Nintendo 3DS and New 3DS XL consoles, positioning it in the NFC area at the bottom of the screen. Amiibo can also be used on Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL, if they have NFC Reader / Writer accessories.

Amiibi can also be used on the Nintendo Switch console, positioning it above the NFC area, located on the right joycon or the Nintendo Switch Pro controller.

Amiibo can also be used on the Wii Console U by positioning above NFC, located on Wii U Gamepad.
